Introduction |
| Pushkar

History

The Pushkar Fair is the world's major camel fair
staged in the sacred town of Pushkar( Rajasthan).
As the legend goes the Hindu god Brahma helixed
up the lake, thus numerous people swim in the
sacred water. The Pushkar fair is certainly the
world's biggest camel fair. Various competitions
that are held during this fair entice thousands
of tourists.
It's a popular belief that famed waters of the
Pushkar lake are holy and wash away the sins of

The Dargah:
Commonly known as Dargah Sharif, it is the tomb
of the Sufi saint Khwaja Moin-ud-din Chisti. The
saint's tomb with a marble dome is in the centre
of the second patio and is bounded by a silver
platform.
Ana Sagar Lake:
It's an artificial lake that was created in
the medieval times by damming River Luni. On its
bank is the pleasant park, the Daulat Bagh containing
a series of marble marquees. There are other lovely
views from the hill and boating is also available.
The Museum:
Once a palace, this magnificent building now
accommodates a government museum. Its anthology
includes stone sculptures, old weapons and miniature
paintings.
Nasiyan Temple:
The double storey hall of this red Jain temple
encloses a enthralling series of large, gilt wooden
figures.
