Tanzania The 'Cradle of Mankind' as it is in the Great Rift Valley and a cross - roads for the world from where the European explorers returned home with tales of the source of the mighty Nile and snow-capped mountains in equatorial latitudes.

Tanzania is unspoilt wilderness on a grand scale in an area half the size of Europe where one can enjoy unmatched game viewing in the endless plains, along unspoilt water courses and in unique haunts, like Ngorongoro and Lake Manyara. Mount Kilimanjaro - at 5,896 metres, Africa's highest mountain.

Tanzania is home to the great Serengeti, the renowned Ngorongoro Crater, and rarely visited Selous, where you ample chances of seeing the 'big five'. The wide open plains of the Serengeti and the Masai Mara in Kenya, are where the spectacular seasonal migration take place. In a perfect contrast, the coastal towns and offshore islands like Zanzibar and Pemba conjure up an exotic tapestry that is rich in both colour and culture.

Zanzibar mesmerised Dr Livingstone, who considered it "the finest place I have known in all Africa".
