Observe this wildlife drama with a ringside seat. Located in the Mandla district of Madhya Pradesh, the Kanha National Park cum Tiger Reserve extends over an area of over 1,940-sq-kms.

Beautifully surrounded by a horseshoe-shaped valley and the spurs of the Mekal ridge, the park covers a highly undulating topography with elevations ranging between 450 to 900 meters above sea level. The meandering Surpan River is the lifeline of this park, a permanent source of water for rich and varied flora and fauna of the sanctuary. Kanha is far greener and its cordon of hills is far more densely wooded than any sanctuary in the country. 

Spotting wild animals is always a matter of. On a mission to find a tiger, one can easily catch glimpses of southern Barasingha as well as herds of Chital.

First time visitors are often so keen to spot the larger animals that they overlook the smaller ones. On the slopes of grasslands you can spot the Sambar, Gaur and Sloth Bear coupled with the wild predators-the Leopard and Jackal and herds of Blackbuck and the wild Pig that come to the central parkland of the valley.

There are 175 varieties of birds in Kanha. So if you happen to be bird watcher, look forward to an enchanting bird show.

The park is open from November to June with each of the seasons with its unique attractions.
